Candle Flame Is Not A Game
Updated: Nov 8, 2020
Moon glistened and radiated high above our heads while the stars danced around her lunar beauty. Salt is laid out on the floor in a circle as bowls of herbs are being blessed. One by one we walk up to opposing candles with various colors ranging from white to gold. Scratch by scratch the matchbox ignites the magic that is about to begin. What do the candles mean? How do we know if the candle is cooperating with our own spellwork and energy? Here is the place where the secrets unfold to improve your spellwork and rituals.
Let us make sure that the energy is working with the candle by checking out the flame. The flame is the ignition to the magic and energy you put into the candle. Fire is the element that takes the simple thoughts that roam in the air and bring it into reality! Therefore the flame is a significant part of spellwork for you know exactly how the spell or energy work is manifesting.
Here are some key factors in the shape and behavior of the flame:
Won’t Light: Let's start off simple, if the candle does not want to light then the outcome is outside of your control and you have to try again after reconsidering your intentions of the spell or energy work.
Tall Flame : Strong enough to push through any obstacles as well as to reach the heights of goals and intentions. As we all know, a fire can break down any walls so when the flame is tall, the barriers are coming down hence bringing happy results. When the candle flames are tall keep in mind the spell is working at the fullest potential.
Low: Sadly in these cases, whatever you are trying to work on with the spell or energy work is not strong enough to push your intent into the universe. The energy is so low that the spell can’t be attainable at that time which isn't necessarily your own energy but the universe cant support that intent at that time.
Steady: If the flame is steady then “slow and steady wins the race” should be a broken record in the back of your mind. The energy isf slowly moving like molasses but this is a reminder to be diligent and expect a good result.
Begins to Grow: when the flame all of a sudden begins to rise, the energy that you need to manifest the spell or complete the rituals is finally coming into fruition and the energy has been released.
Dancing Flame: Who even knew that the flames dance! Get a little jiggy in fire itself. Kind of like when you dance in front of potential suitors, a dancing flame means that whatever you put into the spell or candle it has the power to work but without possible probability. Potential is there but others are working against you. There is success in what you are doing but since others are showing resistance the flame becomes slightly unsteady.
Flickering Flames: Just as one may feel the energy in a room shift, when a flame flickers that announces the arrival of Spirit. Of course there are significant meanings depending on the direction in which the flame flickers.
When in the North, the cause is merely physical and does not involve Spirit since it is ruled by Earth that shows a great energy of being grounded which opposes the Spirit Realm.
When in the East, it shows that the mental part of the spell is at work and progressing since the East is ruled by the air and the mental aspects are represented with Air. .
When in the South, there is a great deal of physical energy surrounding your intent since the South is ruled by fire and brings intent into the reality.
When in the West, it reveals the depths and energies of strong emotions that are a part of the spell work as the West is ruled by water and emotions.
Popping Flame: Depending on the reason the candle is lit, this could mean that there is a form of negative communication. Hence there are outside forces present or Spirit is trying to send you a message.
Dual Flames: there are two energies of energy that is cut in half when the candle decides to split into two flames. Figuring out what those energies are would depend on the type of spell or energy work. For example if one is doing a hex pr a protection spell and there is a dual flame the energy could be split in directions that you didn't know
Self-Extinguishing: When a flame naturally extinguishes, the work that you are doing has been putty to an end. Further, the prayer has either been received or opposed by the Spirit World or individual.
Won’t Extinguish: you have forgotten or missed something in the process of doing the spell or energy work so it is advised that one meditates longer. When it comes to meditating on what you missed, remember to NOT blow out or extinguish the candle, let it die out on its own.
The flame isn't the only thing that should be considered when doing such work. Just as the consequences of a spell is important, the smoke is also significant.
Lots of Smoke: This is one of those ‘magic can be gray’ moments because this doesn't mean there are not good nor bad signs. In times like these though the element of air is charge so in these situations it calls upon you to use your eyes and mind to read the situation. In the depths of reading the smoke pay attention to the color, shape, and timing.
White Smoke: a lovely sign when doing your work, this symbolizes a sign of blessings and benevolent spirits. Kind of like the lovely Nine Of Cups Tarot card this displays the Wish is being Granted!
Black Smoke: Opposing to the White Smoke, Black Smoke displays negative energies around the work you are doing. Just as there may be negative energies, there may be opposing purposes surrounding the spell you are working on. In these cases do a cleansing ritual to make sure nothing is blocking the intent of the spell or ritual work.
Smoke Moving Towards You: If you were working on bringing something into your life, this is a great sign that there is success in attracting what you are seeking. In these cases it means you are achieving your desire in a short amount of time.
Smoke Moving Away From You: For most spells this is not a good omen because the energies are outward bound. Therefore, there is something escaping your grasps.
Smoke and Flame show everything at hand and when doing this work Spirit makes communication with us in our mundane or ritualistic environments. Some may call it Superstition and others may call it a practice but the bigger question is...are you willing to listen?
