Major Arcana Meanings

0. The Fool :

“Oh to be a Fool…”

Powerful and fresh, the Fool card traditionally means a new beginning. Starting off the beginning of the tarot deck with Number 0, the card shows the infinite possibilities within having a fresh start. The yellow background of the traditional Rider Waite card helps symbolize the optimism that is to come as yellow presents the psychological behavior of Optimism.

1. The Magician

“With the Flick of A Hand, Abracadabra!”

Finally getting over to the other side of the ledge, the Fool then transitions into the Magician. Magicians were known to be skilled people who knew how to use their resources to create a spectacle. From this, the card symbolizes one’s ability to take something out of what they have and making it as magical or efficient as possible. The numerology of 1 which represents the magician shows initiative in this new stage. Just as the number one is the beginning of any step process of a new project, here it represents the cause and effect action needed to push forward in the journey.

2. The High Priestess

“She Holds the Key to the Secrets”

After acquiring knowledge on skills and trades the Magician learns, one ascends to the new level of spiritual connection. That being the High Priestess. Traditional tarot displays her with the color blue which helps represent the third eye being mysterious and intuitive. She is intuitive, keeper of the Universe’s secrets and is sometimes seen as secretive because she is the keeper.
