Empaths

      

Has anyone ever said that you were too sensitive? That you take things to heart? Or even like you can feel the emotions of others? Well then you could very well be an empath. Empaths are highly sensitive people who have the ability to sense what those around them are thinking or feeling. It is rare to come across one. Empaths master reading body language and reading minds. They seem to know innately what one is thinking. They can even sense feelings of others as their own which makes them great listeners; and problem solvers. If you may be believing that you are an empath here are some qualities they have:

  • Over emotional

  • Feels like you can feel others’ emotions

  • Feelings are easily hurt 

  • Nerves affected by noise, smells, and excessive talking 

  • Overeating to cope with stress 

      Empaths can be natural lie-detectors that are not easily fooled by others. Though there are a few different types of them.

  1. Cognitive Empath: ‘perspective-talking’. This is the ability to put yourself in someone else’s place, and see their perspective. This is useful for those who negotiate; or even managers. However, cognitive empaths feel empathy more through thought than the actual feeling. 

  2. Emotional Empath: This is when one can literally feel another’s emotions. Almost like mirroring them. For example, a baby may begin crying when it hears another one crying. There can be a few positive and negatives to this. Being able to feel another’s emotions makes one readily able to understand them. This is a skill vital for those caring for others. Such as, doctors, nurses, and aids. Though there can be some negatives. Being able to feel another’s emotions can become overwhelming. This can lead to an emotional overload and the inability to respond helpfully. Ways to avoid this would be finding balance. 

  3. Compassionate Empath: This is the most common form of Empath. A compassionate Empath is exactly what it sounds like. Someone who has concerns for another; but with an additional move towards action to fix the problem. 

  4. Intuitive Empath: Someone who can sense the unspoken terms of what’s going on. Those who are blessed in being this type of Empath experience many things. Such as heightened intuition, extraordinary perceptions, messages in threes, and even animal/plant communication. 

  5. Dream Empath: Those who receive intuitive messages in their dreams. Those with this gift are able to read between the lines and understand the deeper meanings of dreams for themselves and others. 

  6. Animal Empath: Empaths who are always hanging with animals. They have a special connection with pets, able to feel their needs and communicate with them. 

      If you believe that you may be an empath then there are a few things that you can do to get it a bit more under control. The  first thing I would suggest would be to find balance. Too many emotions can cause you to feel drained and even distressed. You must find balance between your logic and emotions. You should definitely do more research! The more you learn the more you’d be able to use your gift to help not only yourself; but also others.
