The Power of Reiki
Reiki according to Wikipedia is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapy can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing process of the patient's body and restore physical/emotional well-being. The practice comes from Japanese culture. Rei meaning universal life and Ki meaning energy. Reiki has no tie to any specific religion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.
Reiki was created by Matiji Kawakami, a Japanese therapist, in 1914. He believed that it was a method to improve body and spirit; and a great tool to compliment medicine. A reiki session can last about 60-90 minutes long; and can help ease tension and stress. It can even help the body create an environment for healing on all levels: physical, mental, and emotional. You begin the session in a comfortable position and can choose between hands on or off session. While experiencing a healing you can slowly feel the energy move through your body to each chakra point. It can feel like a warming/tingling sensation throughout.
Like with everything there are a few different types of healing:
Attunement: this is performed between a reiki master and their student. In which the student immediately gains the ability to channel reiki healing energy by being willing to receive the attunement. This goes without any training or development period.
Guidance: This healing is used to receive guidance for many situations. Depending on the condition/issue there could be specific hand placements. Using this form of reiki can even help answer questions. I.E finding your way when lost. New employment. Even the best vacation spot.
Reiji Ho: this method, developed by Usui Sensei, is used to help one contact their reiki guidance. This prayer technique works best when praying directly to the source, or being a fully illumined being. It is suggested that one be seated with hands touching in the center in front of your heart chakra. Saying a prayer for gratitude for what all your blessings, healings, and guidance you’re about to receive. Then moving your hands to your third eye pray for guidance on the situation you have in mind. Remember to keep an open mind.
Guiding Life: this version of reiki is similar to guidance. This helps you discover your spiritual path. Your path of personal healing and growth. You aren’t shown the goal that you are working for, but the next step you should take on your path. Usually during this process you are asked to move out of your comfort zone, work through fears, overcome blocks to wholeness, and even develop new skills. While doing so you can think/say the mantra, “Guide me and heal me so that I may be of greater service to others.”
If you ever decide to receive a reiki healing there are definitely places you can go. Of course it’s suggested you do your research. Don’t be afraid to feel your emotions while going through your healing. It’s common to experience overwhelming feelings during and after. Don’t shut them out, or ignore them. You may be surprised how freeing you may feel.
