The Sun and the Moon
Updated: Sep 13, 2020
Have you ever wondered about the sun and the moon? When you think of one you normally think of the next. It wasn’t always like that.
The sun always thought it was just him and the Earth. Of course he was grateful for the job that he was given. Light up the sky for Mother Earth to carry on her life force day to day. However, sitting in the sky watching others live their lives can get pretty depressing.
The moon always thought she was alone. Just her and the Earth sleeping below her. Always sleepily ignoring her unintentionally. But she always shone brightly, catching the eye of the few night owl or insomniacs. However, sitting in the sky while the whole world sleeps becomes lonely and isolating.
The sun and the moon yearned to find their other half. Someone to share their thoughts. Their wonders. Their wishes. And their dreams. With whom can call their own. The universe sulking and watching full of sadness that something they created could still feel so incomplete. With a little bit of thought and some maneuvering, this was able to be fixed. The Earth routinely continued its orbit around the Sun. Unconsciously mirroring the Sun, the Moon began her own way of living by orbiting around the unknowing planet. Not even knowing about the existence of the Sun, the Moon mysteriously mirrored her other half yet feeling so incomplete. With each day passing, the Moon was slowly making her way towards the Sun. Both of course unaware of the other continued their jobs. Both still longing for their own source of love. That is until they finally met. The Earth no longer blocked their view of each other as they stood face to face. The moment caught them off guard. Serendipitous. They could do nothing at first but stand there in disbelief while the world watched in awe. Coming together as one was so powerful and so beautiful to those on Earth it was physically blinding to see. Their wishes were finally granted. Of course they couldn’t stay like that forever; but they knew they would meet again. So the next time you see an eclipse. Admire the beauty. It will be even more beautiful even though it is painful.
There are many adaptations of the love story between the Sun and the Moon. This is simply my version of it.
