R.I.P 2020 | GOOD RIDDANCE
As the year 2020 comes to an end I’m sure not many of us are shedding any tears to watch it go. After the year we’ve had we’re all looking towards 2021, and what it has to bring. Yes the past year has taught us many challenges but it has taught us many things about ourselves, and those around us. With today being New Years Eve there’s many things that we can do to prepare for the new year dawning.
Superstitious New Years Beliefs :
Make a noise at midnight. This helps to ward off evil spirits.
Wear red underwear: will bring impassioned relationships to you in the new year.
Wear black underwear: will bring power to you in the new year.
Wear yellow underwear: will bring prosperity to you in the new year.
Wear white underwear: will bring in peace and harmony in the new year.
Eat 12 grapes at midnight. In the 1880s it was said that if you finished all twelve before 12:01 you will have good luck in the new year.
Clean your house. It’s a good idea to go into the new year with a clean house and order. Sweep negativity away from family and life.
Put in your wallet. This encourages and helps to usher in a year of prosperity.
Open your windows. Literally and figuratively let out the old year and in the new.
Kiss someone at midnight. This will be your first encounter of the new year, and will determine how you’ll spend the year.
Essential Oils for a Fresh Start of the New Year :
Lavender Oil to alleviate any stress that has been settling on your mind and heart from the previous year of 2020.
Cypress for a cleansing and grounding atmosphere to evaluate your current position going into the new year
Tangerine to uplift the energy and emotions so that the new year comes in with optimism and enthusiasm.
Cedarwood, Juniper, or White Sage energetic clearing and cleansing.
Frankincense or Sandalwood for Spiritual Reflection and Guidance
Cleansing Ritual To Remove Toxic Energy Before the New Year:
Materials :
Water
Salt
Sacred Space
Altar
Towel
YO BODY!
Cleans Your Space with whatever energetic cleanser you feel best works for you. For Example: Smudging, Incense, Aromatherapy, Singing Bowl, Salt, Solfeggio Frequencies
Cleanse your body with whatever you are attuned with, the above examples are perfect to cleanse your body as well. Other suggestions are spiritual baths, spiritual colognes, and cleansing showers.
Set up a Sacred whether this is in your room, outside, or even an altar room. If you call the corners then call the corners, if you have a deity you worship or to cleanse, you call them. This is where you set some time to call your deities or higher forces you believe in. For example if you are in Santeria and call Yemaya this would be the time.
I recommend using water so grab a bowl and some salt (sea salt, himalyan salt, or black salt works) to bring in an adaptable ingredient to work with.
Since Water is an element in nature it is mutable but depending on what religion, spirituality or lifestyle you are in would correspond to the specific element you use.
Now that the space is cleansed, protected and sacred you start your cleansing ritual. Most of the time I use my bath or shower time as my time to do cleansings but whatever you use will work. With this ritual using water is a good way to remove any toxins from your aura and spiritual body.
Moving forward you would use a mantra or incantation while pouring the water down your body, envisioning white light removing any negativity from your spiritual, astral or auric body.
If you do not use a shower or bath and you are outside (that would be awkward) I would recommend having a spray bottle. If not then simple using your fingers and splash the cleansed water over your body envisioning the same white light.
Then you dry yourself off with a clean towel and you are done!
Intention Spell for New Year (The moon is waning) :
Materials :
1 black candle
1 piece of clear quartz
1 cup
Water
Incense of your choice
Paper
Pen
Directions :
Write on a paper your top personal goals, intentions, and energies you wish to bring to life in the new year. Clear your mind so that your intuition can guide you towards your purpose.
Light your incense. As it burns watch the smoke picturing your negativity and blocks flowing away with it.
Light your candle. Visualize the struggles you've faced in the past year. Instead of looking at them as the challenges they were, view them as growth and learning you’ve needed. Let the candle burn for the remainder of the spell.
Fill your cup with water. While thinking of your intentions, hold the cup close to your heart. View your intentions filling the cup along with water.
Begin to slowly drink it.
Finally, wrap your intentions with the clear quartz. While doing so give thanks. After meditating and reflecting on your intentions.
