Getting to Know the Solar Plexus


The color yellow can be inviting. The warm glow it gives off can almost feel like it’s engulfing you in a comforting hug. The color associated with the sun and happiness also represents the solar plexus. It is located above your belly button and below your chest bone. While this is the third and very useful chakra, it also can be one of the most temperamental. The solar plexus is in charge of regulating the energy associated with action, intention, identity, and vitality.

Figure Out what exactly are the signs you may need to pay attention in regards to what energy your solar plexus. Sometimes it is underworked and sometimes people may have it blaring with fiery boldness ( we all know at least one of those characters). When you are off balanced with your solar plexus it doesn’t only mess with your energy; but can begin to manifest physically.


Underbalanced: overeating, having stomach/digestive issues, and feeling more fatigued.


Balanced: confident, motivated, purposeful, reliable, and responsible


Overworked: aggression, low self esteem, over dominating towards others.


Element:

Fire. This is because the solar plexus turns matter to energy in order to move forward.

  • Lemons

  • Yellow Peppers

  • Chickpeas

  • Squash

  • Yellow Pears

Yoga Poses to Help Solar Plexus: (Yoga helps to balance and align your solar plexus. While also helping to ground you with the Earth!)

  • Warrior Pose: this pose is great for posture, balance, and opening up the solar plexus.

  • Crescent Pose: helps with coordination, balance, as well as concentration.

  • Downward Facing Dog Pose: improves your digestion, concentration, releases the tension from your back, and it has many other health benefits.

  • Rabbit Pose

When performing yoga poses and meditating it is suggested to repeat positive affirmations to yourself. For example, “I am ambitious.” “I forgive myself for my past mistakes.” “I stand in my personal power.” You say this even when you aren’t performing one of the tasks. In fact, it’s always good to repeat them to yourself. Whether when you first wake up, before you go to bed; and even throughout the day!
